Prepping For Back 2 School: Matters of the Heart
AND a Link-Up For Back To School!!!

I've been re-reading & working through one of my 'classics' "The Power of a Praying Parent" by Stormie Omartian.

I hadn't realized how much I'd slacked off praying for my kiddos during the last pregnancy, until I began regularly praying again...and only in the last few weeks I've already seen some really dramatic answers! Much to pray about. Much to learn.

These beginning of answers have brought me a lot of hope.

I realized that the last two school years were sub-par.
I mean things were 'okay', most of the time, academically. Each child have their respective strengths & weaknesses (like anybody's kids) but I witnessed a lot of frustration when personal 'limitations' were hit.

I think this year is going to be much better. First of all, we have decided to place the two older children in a private Christian school (they attended it before and really enjoyed it!).
Our younger three will be home with myself, and we'll continue with the homeschooling adventure!

Academics yes, but that's secondary... and, I personally believe a by-product of strengthened character :)

ALL the children are somewhat excited and anticipating the new routine that the new school year always brings.

What about myself though?! Am I ready for all the changes?

First of all, I have really started to pray over my school year & seek the Lord for direction as we step up our homeschool a notch.

All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace. Isaiah 54: 13

This school year, I would like to incorporate interest-led unit studies, on top of the main curriculum we already have (math, English, etc.) I have been semi-researching different methodologies of unit studies and look forward to allowing the children to have some say with it. Incorporating independent work as well, that they can take ownership of. Such as helping to choose topics, directions of arts/crafts and related field trips, etc.

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4: 13

So, it is being reflected in my new routine: seeking the Lord daily for wisdom.
Taking time to research more ideas.
Reading.
Getting myself prepared!

My heart & in practical ways as well.

Just acquired two more book shelves & going to re-organize our school nook to be slightly different.

Getting a menu plan and driving schedule for our busy week.

Hubby & I want to get our budget geared up, in order that we're both on the same page for upcoming expenses.

Evaluating what role hubby will play in the schooling experience. Usually he does minimal in terms of practical school work, but he's great at taking the children out to places that 'supplement' the curriculum.
Also, reading lots of stories to them.

Having bedtime cuddles, especially the eves where Mama is working (not so much anymore, but the odd time I still do nutritional intakes/parties as an RHN)

That's pretty much what I've been doing to get my heart/head in the game.

What about YOU??
