A Reminder of Past Kept Promises: Lil Sissy!

Reminder of Past Kept Promises!
The Story of Hannah's Lil 'Sissy'

 baby faith promises prayer

As I sit back and think over the past few months, I am reminded that life has no guarantees.
My faith has been sorely tested in many areas, & it has left me reeling & wondering what the future holds for many of my loved ones.

Realizing this, has led me to seek after Him more than I have before.
Differently though.

The facades are gone; the brokenness is already seen anyway, so might as well acknowledge it.

I simply pour out my heart.
Sometimes, and often actually, my prayer life has become more of: "help me Jesus."
I trust He knows my heart & will answer.

However, as anyone who has gone through a season of trials can tell you, it can be very difficult to hold onto hope for the future, when the only faith you can muster up is sufficient for one day.

One day only. Today.
Not tomorrow or the next day.
Simply today, and standing on what is true, and not what is unknown.

As I've poured out my heart, and read the Word, I continually find hope.
I see miracles ARE possible.
I know that our God is a mighty God, and nothing is impossible for Him!

This afternoon, during a fun pic taking session with our daughters (Gracie & Hannah~see above), it became a reminder of God's faithfulness to me over the years.
To us as a family.

Many years ago He answered my prayer for a husband. A good one at that.

Today, as I felt a flood gate of negative emotions overtake me, and realized that some of my prayers & hopes & aspirations & dreams for some of my loved ones' futures have seemingly flown away...
I recalled a simple child-like prayer our daughter prayed just last year.

"Mommy, I want God to give me a baby sister that I can play with. And by Christmas too!"

Our children had been told that we were hoping for another little one. We had totally planned to have another one & were waiting for things to happen.

That was sometime early last year (2013 Jan or early Feb-ish) that Hannah (age 7 at the time) prayed that heart felt prayer. We didn't have the heart to crush her hope after I visited the doctor (although unknowingly, I was already pregnant!) and she said that we could wait another couple months, but then consider getting some 'help' as my cycles were so irregular.

When we I took the test, I was actually shocked this time. I had been missing all the cues, and although my cycle had disappeared, (recall that it was a regular occurrence), so nope, that wasn't my first clue.

My daughter however, was ELATED!
And she acted like she knew all along that God would answer her faith-filled prayer.

Grace-Ann came just before Christmas of last year (November 3rd, 2013), and Hannah has enjoyed her lil sissy ever since!

Great Is Your Faithfulness.
& that's why I hang onto cling to HIS hope for the future.

Where is God in the land of in-between?!

It's not easy to be in the land in-between...

You start a new exercise program....only to be derailed by a chocolaty fudge sundae the next weekend.

You decide you're going to 'fast' negative thinking....only to discover, that two days later you're getting laid off... leaving your resolve for positive thinking in the gutter.

You have just delivered your first precious newborn.....six weeks later he or she is so fussy & colicky AND your spouse & you are barely sleeping (let alone having 'quality' time together) and you were wondering about all the 'happy & proud parenting' moments that others fuss about.

So how do you press past the resistance?

The answer: one gradual (& sometimes painstaking) step at a time.

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”
― Maya Angelou

At the beginning of something new, it's not difficult to find the 'cheerleader' squad to have on hand in the background, celebrating alongside of you.

At the end of your journey, I betcha there will be umpteenth numbers of people waiting to congratulate you on your amazing accomplishments.
They stand there, ready & willing to celebrate this victory with you!

And that's great. And important.

But what about all the 'white space' in between?!

Where the effort becomes grueling?

Where the results may not even yet be tangible?

Where you constantly doubt yourself, and feel like giving up on your dream, perhaps many, many times....

Where the 'promises' of fulfillment are such a long way off...sometimes even seeming to disappear altogether off of the radar.

I feel there in many regards these days.

Stuck.

In the land in between.

Yet, I am VERY hopeful.

I am holding onto hope that the answers will come soon and that my personal breakthrough in the areas I'm praying for (and working so hard towards!) will come.

Evaluating my past choices and seeing where I can make changes.

Praying, praying, praying.

Getting outside input from those who have a vested interest to help me to grow. And who know the ropes to help get me from point A --> B.

But it's grueling some days...

Just watching & waiting.

Just hoping in the land in between.

"And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in you."

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all you that hope in the LORD.

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

I will not give up. By God's strength I will persevere.

Wherever you're at in this journey, I strongly encourage you that by persevering, we are together overcoming the obstacles that stand in our path!

It may be your health.
It could be an issue with one of your children, your marriage, another relationship of some sort.
It may be a financial issue...

But whatever area of life it is, don't STAY in the land of in between.
Keep walking.
Even if it's only one small step at a time.

PS: You may not hear many cheering you on in the land in between, but trust me, look for a few trusted friends (they're there somewhere) and ask them to stand with you.
Pray for you. Keep you accountable til you get to the 'end'.

What about you: are you in the land in between in any area of your life?

~Kale & Banana Smoothie~

Starter & Snack Option:
Kale & Banana Smoothie

Many of you may not know, but I am actually a Registered Holistic Nutritionist with my own business servicing our local area.
Please like my Facebook Page Here--> Revitalize U Health
I do individual consults, health seminars and am regularly evaluating my own health.
These smoothies are a result of my 'experiments' in my own kitchen!

Basic Recipe

1-2 frozen bananas
1/2 cup (or more!) of kale
1 fresh banana
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1-2 tablespoons of hemp hearts
2-3 drops of liquid stevia
1/4 cup water
add in almond milk to desired consistency

Blend & enjoy!

I use the baby kale & it didn't seem as strong as regular. Y our choice.
I used almond milk, but any milk works :)
Hemp hearts are chock full of nutrients, but are also a great source of protein.
Stevia is a sugar that is considered safe for sugar sensitive people.

Could Also Add In:

Antioxidant Boost--> handful of blueberries
More Greens--> 1/4 cup of spinach (plus some more liquid!)

~Teddy Bear Picnic! Or What To Do On A Stormy Eve~

Family Fun:
Impromptu Picnic

What do you do when you're locked in a house with three lil kiddies, and on a stormy night to boot??
Not to mention a local (albeit temporary) tornado watch...

I tried to think of something on the fly, and honestly, what came to my mind was this 'cutsie' lil fairy-tale-type-of-a-song from my own childhood.
I even remember getting out the large big record it was on, and playing it OVER & over as a child!
I realize I'm dating myself if I can remember record players :)

You Can Watch It Here:

The kids were getting a bit fearful about the storm watch.
As we drove home from visiting my mother's place, we watched dark rain clouds burst open with a heavy downpour. For the younger children, it was definitely scary!

Some blankets came out, bowls of healthy treats, a few drinks.
And of course our guests of honour:
the teddy bears came marching down with much anticipation.

We had our lil 'teddy bear picnic' and the night was salvaged :)

Impromptu plans are often the best AND most memorable!
